There comes a time in life when every man realizes others' and therefore his own vanity, frailty, and insignificance; that he cannot become everything. Mind you, this is not to claim that you cannot improve yourself beyond any expected standard; of that, I'm sure, you can and must.
However, while a man's capability and his choices are limitless, the amount of time given for him to live is not. Since Time only moves in one direction; with every opportunity gained, applied on time, so much is also lost. We can only go on forging on ahead based on what we have learned. No path is the right path but none is in the wrong either, for no one knows the outcome at the point when a decision is being made. The best we can do is to make the decision and embrace the consequences, for better or worse.
"If you begin to regret, you’ll dull your future decisions and let others make your choices for you. All that’s left for you, then… is to die. Nobody can foretell the outcome; each decision you make holds meaning only by affecting your next decision." Erwin Smith (Attack on Titan Character).
“ Every path is the right path. Everything could've been anything else. And it would have just as much meaning.” ― Mr. Nobody, 2009 Movie.
"But there's no need for turning back, 'cause all roads lead to where I stand" Crossroads by Don McLean.
There comes a time in life when a man realizes that nobody is better than him and therefore he is no better than anybody. Of all the believes and indoctrination fed upon him since he was born, of all the seemingly kind but false hopes handed to him, he realizes they are full of contradictions and lies.
How many a time when he is in distress and decides, for he is tired of weight of uncertainty, to put forth his faith and therefore his fate in others, only to find that he has been let down, that others were not sincere, or that they were sincerely as clueless as he is. Perhaps that they feel incumbent to express their kindness, or also likely trying best to hide their vanity out of fear of losing face. It matters not. No one is at fault. There is no grudge worth holding once he understands the nature of society. Now he realizes that he is as good as anybody, that nobody is better than him, and alas that he is better than none. He realizes his decision is his own, at each and every successive moment of his life.
